6G will be 100 times faster than 5G

The Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo has just published a white paper describing the evolution of 5G and 6G development. The latter should be 100 times faster than 5G and could cover the entire Earth from satellites. And that’s not all

The flow rates 100 times higher than the 5G , a broadcast on land , in the air , space and sea, a consumption of energy reduced … This sketch the portrait of the 6G envisaged by NTT DoCoMo , the leading Japanese mobile operator, in a white paper it just published. This ambition, the operator shares it with other Asian equipment manufacturers, such as the Chinese Huawei which is also abused by the United States for the deployment of 5G.

DoCoMo specifies that its laboratories began to experiment with 5G in 2010. And even if 5G is still struggling to spread and that compatible mobiles are not yet numerous, the Japanese firm is already working on its improvement, while plunging on the sixth mobile network generation. On the technical side, DoCoMo indicates that 6G should operate from waves with a very broad spectrum . The operator has also managed to test frequencies going beyond 150 GHz from 2018. In the end, DoCoMo estimates that the maximum speeds will exceed 100 Gbps.

A space 6G

With 6G, artificial intelligence  will find itself propelled to levels that we cannot yet predict. This 6G, the beginnings of which are expected in ten years, according to DoCoMo, should also finalize the reliability of autonomous cars because of a latency practically reduced to nothing. According to scientists’ estimates, it could be reduced to less than a millisecond.

Monstrous throughputs, reduced latency … In addition, this 6G would solve the problem of white areas or underserved. By reaching space and satellites, the coverage would be global with speeds of several Gbps everywhere. Again, the autonomous car , as well as all connected devices also autonomous would see their availability and their permanent reliability. The operator even evokes the concept of “ cyberphysical fusion ”, where the massive processing of data would make it possible to model the world in its smallest details.

Paradoxically, it is Donald Trump , Huawei’s enemy number one, yet one of the biggest equipment manufacturers of 5G, who was one of the first to mention 6G, in a tweet of which he has the secret. of the formulation. Pending the deployment of  5G , research on the sixth generation of the mobile network is mainly carried out by Chinese, Japanese or Korean teams.
