Finally a wireless charger for iPhone, Airpods and Watch

Since Apple has abandoned the idea of its AirPower, other manufacturers are digging the idea, and Zagg will launch its wireless charging mat which will charge several devices at the same time. Even the iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch.

The CES electronics show in Las Vegas is an opportunity to learn more about new products coming to the market, but also to discover current projects. Bloomberg journalists  were able to interview Zag Bell’s marketing manager Brad Bell, who said the firm is currently working on a wireless charging mat equivalent to the one Apple worked on.

Apple had announced in 2017 to work on an induction charging mat called  AirPower , which was to charge iPhone , AirPods  and Apple Watch at the same time, wherever they were placed. After missing the launch in 2018, the firm announced in 2019 that it had canceled the project, without giving the reasons. However, some specialists have suggested that the engineers were unable to resolve certain problems, including overheating.

A launch planned for this year

The new Zagg rug should be marketed under its Mophie brand . It will allow the devices to be loaded to be placed freely, unlike existing carpets which users often complain of finding their devices unloaded because they were not perfectly aligned. Note however that there is a place on the carpet for a watch and another for headphones .

The launch of the carpet is planned for this year, the manufacturer is currently negotiating with resellers. Brad Bell also said that the company is working on remote charging , which could operate over several meters, but that it will take several years before the technology is ready.
