The Japanese manufacturer has unveiled its small electric city car with two versions of different power, and especially a starting price that remains under 30,000 euros, including ecological bonus. Expected for the summer of 2020, the Honda e is dedicated to the European market, and it will roll first in Germany and the United Kingdom.
As promised, Honda took advantage of the opening of the Frankfurt show to lift the veil on the Honda e, this electric city car with original look with cameras that replace the traditional rearview mirrors, like at Audi, and very discreet door handles, that open and close with his smartphone.
What everyone was expecting was the price, and the Japanese manufacturer managed to stay under the 30,000 euros with a starting price of 29,470 euros, eco-bonus bonus included. It is the Germans, then the English will be the first served, and it will be only from summer 2020.
“OK Honda” to activate the wizard
This first model is equipped with a motor with a power of 100 kW (136 hp) for a torque of 315 Nm. Its 35.5 kWh battery has a theoretical autonomy of up to 220 km with a single charge. This clearly confirms its urban character with short and medium distance journeys. In addition, the fast charge capacity allows restoring 80% of the battery in 30 minutes.
The second model, sold at around 33,000 euros, will offer an engine with a power of 113 kW (151 hp), and common to both cars, this impressive five-screen panoramic digital dashboard, including two tactile 12, 3 inches. On the menu are apps and connected services that are also accessible by using the voice commands of the Honda Personal Assistant. Just say “OK Honda” to pilot it to the voice.
