Google launches three apps to let go of our smartphone

Google has released three new applications for Android. They are exclusively dedicated to encouraging users to use their mobile less, by making them aware of the time they spend in front of the screen.

Apple and Google have introduced in the latest versions of their operating system for smartphones “digital well-being” functions that make users aware of the time they spend on their phone. With Android 10 , these options are found in the mobile settings. To further encourage these virtuous practices, Google has just developed three experimental applications designed to improve digital well-being .

Called Envelope , the first is only compatible with the Pixel 3a. At the edge of the wacky, the app delivers a PDF file that must be printed and folded so as to create a paper envelope to store the mobile. The smartphone can then only be used to call and take photos, using keys printed on the paper.

Wallpapers that make you feel guilty

Activity Bubbles , displays a black screen. Each time you unlock the mobile, a bubble drops at the bottom of the screen. Its dimensions will depend on the time you spent on the phone. At the end of the day, the accumulation of bubbles gives a good idea of the number of times you have unlocked the phone and the time spent using it.

Finally, Screen Stopwatch  is even more radical in making the user of a smartphone feel guilty. In the background, it displays a huge stopwatch that starts when the mobile is unlocked and stops when it is in standby. Unable to miss the duration of use of the phone.
