Honda has launched reservations for the Honda e, its future five-door electric derivative of the Urban EV concept which it has remained very close. A deposit of 800 euros (refundable) is required to register until the official launch of pre-orders at the end of 2019.
After the enthusiasm generated by its prototype Urban EV presented in 2017 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Honda decided to transform the test by creating a standard version of its electric city car that will be called Honda e. Now things are becoming more transparent with the opening of bookings in France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Norway.
For 800 euros (refundable amount in case of withdrawal), prospective customers can now register to be a priority when opening pre-orders that will occur later this year. The Honda e will be marketed from spring 2020, says the Japanese manufacturer. For the moment, Honda has been very stingy about this five-door electric car that will compete with the Renault Zoe 2 and the Peugeot e-208. But on the page dedicated to reservations, we can still glean some bits of information.
More than 200 kilometers of autonomy
First of all, we learn that the Honda e is propulsion and that its battery will offer more than 200 kilometers of autonomy. Charging on a fast base will be able to restore 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, adds the constructor. In contrast, still no information about the performance of the electric motor.
However, the website Autocar said to have learned at the Geneva show that it would develop “more than 98 horses” for 300 Nm of torque. The Honda e will be available in five colors: pearly crystal black, modern metallic steel, electric yellow, crystal blue metallic and platinum white pearlescent.
Very close to the Urban EV concept car, with its melodic lines, integrated door handles and even cameras as exterior mirrors, the Urban EV is undeniably attractive. It remains to know his price which, he too, was not mentioned.
