At the Paris Air Show, on its stand (Hall 2A C253), Michelin, the French tyre manufacturer presents an avant-garde tyre concept. A demonstration suggesting that this is the tyre of car ultimate.
Named Vision, this tyre concept was first presented in June 2017 at the Movin’On conference dedicated to sustainable mobility. Its commissioning is not envisaged before the 2030 horizon.
The Vision tyre is cut in one piece. The set represents both traditional rim and rubber. Honeycombed, it will be made of bio-sourced materials and will not pollute. This tyre, recyclable at the end of use, should last throughout the life of the vehicle.
By design, it is airless, which avoids any risk of punctures and problems related to pressure monitoring. Its eraser will be reprintable thanks to 3D machines as its degradation or if the tyre is damaged. Finally, Vision will be connected and will inform in real time of its state and level of wear.
