Renault has officially presented the second generation of its electric Zoe whose style is asserting itself, within particular a more refined interior. By the way, it gains 90 km of additional autonomy compared to the current model.
That’s it, Renault unveiled its new Zoe. The most sold electric city car in Europe (35,600 registrations in 2018, source Renault) offers a good makeover with a more assertive aesthetic, which comes more to stick to the other models of the brand, and a significant gain of autonomy. The front mask is gaining in character, with “C-Shape” LED lights, a more curved hood, enlarged air intakes in which fog lights with chrome surrounds.
The new Zoe will be available in nine colours, with 15, 16 and 17-inch wheels. Its overall size remains much the same as the current Zoe, but its trunk expands (486 litres) and receives a double bottom. On the engine side, you can choose between two “100% Renault” engines: the R110 with 80 kW (225 Nm of torque) and the R135 with 100 kW (135 hp and 245 Nm of torque). With the R135, Renault announces 0 to 50 km / h in 3.6 seconds and 80 to 120 km / h in 7.1 s. The top speed reaches 140 km / h.
Recycled fabric and many driving aids
The 52 kWh battery occupies the same space as the previous Zoe but has a higher density. The result, Renault announces 390 km of autonomy (cycle WLTP) against 300 km the current model. Another important novelty is the adoption of the 50 kW DC fast charger.
The new Zoe also fills the gaps of its predecessor at the level of the equipment of assistance to the driving: automatic lighting of the fires, warning of blind spot, help with maintenance in the way, warning of crossing of line, emergency automatic braking, recognition of traffic signs, 360 ° radar, automatic parking brake.
The interior of the new Zoe has also been significantly restyled. It is more opulent, with a 10-inch screen as a counter with GPS guidance display, layout and customizable colours. The infotainment system always happens on a touch screen in a vertical position in the middle of the dashboard, but its diagonal increases (9.3 inches).
It is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play and can display in real-time the available charging stations. The materials used in the cabin reflect a more qualitative and refined perception. For the first time, Renault used fabrics made from recycled materials for certain seat and upholstery components. There is also a compartment for a smartphone that incorporates induction charging.
The price of the new Zoe has not been released yet. Several versions will be proposed: Business, Intent, Life, Zen and Edition One all options. Deliveries will begin in the fall announcement Renault. The Peugeot e-208 now has a serious rival.
