What will the OnePlus 8 reserve?

Wireless charging, Lite version, 3D photo sensor … Futura takes stock of the rumors that accompany the upcoming release of the OnePlus 8, which will be available in three versions. Objective: anticipate the arrival of future Samsung Galaxy and Apple models.

OnePlus smartphone fans can rejoice, wireless charging  should finally arrive on the brand’s devices this year. This technology has been demanded by users for a long time, and new information has just fallen: OnePlus has officially joined the  Wireless Power Consortium which manages the Qi standard, as evidenced by the list of members on the WPC site. There is no indication at the moment whether the function will be integrated on the OnePlus 8 devices expected in the coming months, or on the OnePlus 8T range which should arrive rather at the end of the year. It is a safe bet however that it will be reserved for the Pro version.

A lot of information and rumors are already circulating on the next smartphones of the Chinese brand which are expected around May 2020. The manufacturer could offer the OnePlus 8 at 599 euros, and the OnePlus 8 Pro between 700 and 800 euros. But there are indications of a third model, the OnePlus 8 Lite, at a more economical price. No doubt, OnePlus is aware that Apple is also planning to launch an iPhone for small budgets .

OnePlus would prepare an economical version

The Pro version could abandon the retractable front camera, OnePlus opting instead for a punch notch on all models. The OnePlus 8 Pro would have a  6.7-inch Super Amoled screen with a resolution of 3,180 x 1,440 pixels , and a refresh rate of 120 Hz . For the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Lite, the firm would rather have opted for a 6.44-inch Amoled screen with a Full HD + definition (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

The manufacturer still using the latest Qualcomm processor , we can assume that the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro should integrate the Snapdragon  865, which means that they should also be compatible with the 5G network . They should also have a minimum of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. No information is available for the moment on the characteristics of the Lite version, but some suggest a MediaTek 1000 SoC. It will therefore be clearly less powerful.

A triple photo module on all models

On the photo and video side, they should benefit from a triple rear module, with a main objective of 60 megapixels, as well as two others of 16 and 13 megapixels for the OnePlus 8 Pro, or 16 and 12 megapixels for the OnePlus 8. Both will have a 32 megapixel camera for selfies . Some rumors also suggest a fourth sensor for the ”  time of flight  ” (shooting in 3D) on the Pro version, as well as a main sensor of 108 megapixels. For the Lite version, it will also be a triple photo module, this time with a 48-megapixel main sensor, accompanied by the same 16 and 12-megapixel modules as the OnePlus 8, and a 16-megapixel front camera.

Better yet, in a post on its forum , OnePlus promised improvements for recording videos, with a night mode, better stabilization in 4K, new editing tools in the Gallery app , and many others . Finally, the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 4,500 mAh battery, compared to 4,000 mAh for the other two models.
